Meet Our Team

Dr. Dee,
L.Ac, CHM, Dipl. OM, OBAA, CFMP.

Sierra Skye Dee is a non-binary mom who lives in Austin, Texas, and serves the community as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist.

Originally from North Carolina, Sierra earned dual bachelor’s degrees in psychology and sociology at Portland State University. Their university years were spent researching race and gender bias, working in the non-profit sector, and volunteering with houseless trans youth — experiences that still inform their patient-centered approach.

Sierra’s passion for medicine began after a severe hamstring tear. Discovering firsthand how quickly sports injury acupuncture accelerated recovery, they went on to earn a doctorate in acupuncture with a Chinese herbal specialization from Pacific College of Health and Sciences. Sierra continually reviews the latest research to ensure their care evolves with modern needs.

Board-certified by the NCCAOM, Sierra also holds a 200-hour RYT, OBAA certification, feng shui credentials, and advanced training in esoteric acupuncture, trauma-informed care, and is a functional medicine practitioner. They have studied with renowned acupuncturists and herbalists in Japan and pursue ongoing education in sports medicine, acupuncture, and fertility acupuncture in Austin.

While Chinese medicine can address many conditions, Sierra’s clinical focus includes perinatal and fertility support, hormone balance, autoimmune disorders, pediatrics, and athletic injuries. Their own journey toward parenthood deepened their expertise in fertility acupuncture and Chinese herbs for reproductive health.

Outside the clinic, Sierra enjoys quiet time at home with their partner, child, and dog. A dedicated Ashtanga yoga student, they also relish Austin’s outdoor lifestyle.

The History of Acupuncture

Acupuncture traces its roots to ancient China, with the earliest written references appearing in the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon) around 100 BCE. From there, it spread across Asia and became central to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), shaping healing systems in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and beyond, while also paralleling long-standing medicinal traditions of many Indigenous peoples.

Today, you’ll find acupuncture practiced worldwide — including right here in Austin, TX — where patients often pair it with conventional care for a well-rounded, evidence-informed approach. Whether it’s sought for fertility acupuncture, sports injury recovery, allergy relief, or community acupuncture in South Austin, this time-honored therapy continues to evolve, blending modern research with its 2,000-year heritage.

Tuina Therapy

Tuina literally translates to ‘push and pull’ in Chinese, capturing the rhythmic pressing, kneading, rolling, and rubbing techniques used during each session. Paired with gentle stretches and joint mobilizations, Tuina stimulates Qi, improves circulation, and accelerates recovery — making it a fantastic complement to our Austin, Texas, acupuncture and sports injury acupuncture treatments.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi travels along meridians, and any blockage can cause pain or dysfunction. By applying targeted pressure to specific acupuncture points, meridians, and muscles, Tuina restores healthy energy flow and promotes deep healing. Each protocol is customized to the patient’s condition and often combines seamlessly with adjunct therapies like Gua Sha, Austin clients love for added muscle relief.

Cupping & Gua Sha

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cupping therapy in Austin, TX helps restore balance by encouraging the smooth flow of Qi and blood through the meridians. By creating gentle suction on the skin, cupping draws fresh circulation to the surface, helping to clear stagnation that can trigger pain, illness, or persistent tightness.

When Qi flows freely, the body feels healthy; when it stagnates — from stress, poor diet, or environmental shifts — discomfort follows. Cupping breaks up these blockages, allowing energy and blood to move again and supporting the body’s self-healing.

It pairs beautifully with our sports injury acupuncture protocols and even offers fast relief for common colds, muscle knots, or lingering soreness.

What To expect

Relief can come quickly, but the number of sessions varies by condition. Some people notice improvement after one visit, while issues like fertility enhancement, weight-loss acupuncture, or chronic migraines may require a short series for best results.

Let’s work together

Your body is designed to heal itself — our Austin acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine gently remind it of that innate wisdom.
