Perinatal: An entire Journey
Pregnancy and the postpartum period are transformative times, filled with excitement, challenges, and profound changes in the body and mind. While conventional medicine offers vital support, there are so many benefits to using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to help navigate this journey with greater ease and balance. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to support women through all stages of pregnancy. It’s a safe, non-invasive way to address a variety of common pregnancy symptoms and promote overall health. When we say perinatal we are referring to the before, during and postpartum period. Acupuncture needles used during pregnancy are extremely fine and inserted gently to ensure comfort. Acupressure, moxibustion (heat therapy), or other needle-free techniques may also be used for added comfort and safety.

What To expect
During an acupuncture session, you’ll typically lie down in a relaxed setting while the practitioner inserts very thin, sterile needles into specific points on your body. The needles may remain in place for 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the treatment plan. Most people report feeling little to no discomfort, and many experience a deep sense of relaxation during the treatment.
While acupuncture has been shown to provide relief for many, the number of sessions required can vary based on the condition being treated. Some individuals experience immediate benefits, while others may need a series of treatments for optimal results. At Dee Acupuncture we focus on using research to help come figure out the most optimal amount of sessions needed for you to feel your best.
